Headline
Burma's Growing Steel Industry
Caption Description
The Union Government of Burma has recently completed construction of a modern State Steel Mill about 14 miles from Rangoon in the Insein District.
Using iron scrap available in Burma in thousands of tons as a legacy of World War II, and billets imported from abroad, the Mill produces light steel wares which had to be imported before 1948. This photograph shows the main scrap dump near the Mill. [No exact date]
