On- the-spot investigation on the ruins of a razed town is conducted by members of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan. Located in the pro-Indian part of Kashmir, Baramula was the scene of a fierce battle in October 1947, when it was raided by hostile mountain tribesmen. The Indian Government complained to the UN Security Council, which dispatched the five-nation Commission to the trouble area to investigate the facts.
