The Security Council voted on a draft resolution on protection of civilians in Sudan. The resolution would have called on the warring parties to immediately cease hostilities and engage in dialogue in good faith. The resolution received 14 votes in favour, one vote against (Russian Federation). The cattle will form the nucleus for an experimental herd at the Centre, which is the first to be created by UNRWA for the purpose of training young Palestinian Arab refugees in various phases of agriculture. The shipment is made possible by the co-operation of Heifer Project, Inc., through which the cattle were donated.
